This is March 1950, the earliest movie of the Farm, featuring little Susan. The family is on the way to Washington DC, to show off new brother Sam. In this clip their grandmother Nell, and Magg, Grandma’s indispensible “help”.
Susan, Sam, and Bill on the way home from Virginia Beach in 1954, with Sam still carrying his inner tube. “Uncle Bill” Chambliss on the old original wooden steps. Notice the many more buildings, and trees shading the farmhouse. There’s a wooden wheeled wagon, farm cats, and chickens.
Bill and Sam riding in a tobacco sled, with Little Willy driving up front.Tobacco sleds were filled while being dragged between the rows. Wagons with wheels would bog down in the moist soil, so sleds were preferred. Near the end you might notice the many houses and other structures no longer there. At the time there were several families living on and around the Farm constituting a small community.
A little one minute clip with John with his ‘Lil Rebel cap, and Fitzhugh.
